The festivities began at 6 pm in the saint – Anne’s  church with the mass celebrated by Father Georges NICOLI.
Saint Erasme restored in the Gold leaf in 2015, was taken in procession at sea, accompanied with the Brotherhoods and with saints Florentins, up to the lighthouse of Tignosu.
All the participating boats in the procession were invited to take one time of prayer in memory of all those who died at sea and a bouquet of flower was thrown to the sea in their memory.
Let us remind that St Erasme – native of Antioch whoin the period was Syrian, lived towards 280 apr J.C.
We attribute the origin of this patronage to the fact that he was preaching when a thunderstorm burst abruptly: the terror seized the audience and we live around him that the lightning had saved him.
Since then, the sailors gave the name of “ Fires holy Elme “ to the bright egrets which they sometimes perceive in the extremities of the masts of their boats.
