At this beginning of season 2018, we had the great pleasure to be able to perceive in our gulf, two exceptional yachts: the “ Grand Bleu “ and The “ A „.

The Grand Bleu is one of the biggest private luxury yachts to the world.
With a 113 meter length, more exactly 112,80 meters, was classified 12th bigger yacht of the world in 2007 (in May, 2011, it was „no more than“ 20th).
It was built in shipyards Vulkan in Germany and was launched in 2000. It was at first the property of an American businessman (Paul Allen, partner of Bill Gates) who resold it to the Russian billionaire Roman Abramovitch in 2002. The latter made it transform in construction sites HDW in Kiel with an internal refitting and addition of a platform to swim of 5 meters (originally The Grand Bleu was 106,39 meters).
The Grand Bleu is propelled by 2 engines Wärtsilä of 3 600 horses. Details of the internal arrangement are little known. We know however that the inside of the ship was partially designed by Terence Disdale.
The yacht possesses equipments ecological as system of waste water treatment. The Grand Bleu also possesses a mini-yacht: Sirius A, a sailboat: Bellatrix and a helicopter. The crew consists of 65 people.
The sailing yacht A, of a length of 142,81 m, he is one of the biggest sailing yacht to the world and possesses numerous innovations. As his power-driven counterpart – the motoryacht A – this sailboat possesses the name of the first letter of the alphabet. And the reason would be to appear in the first one on the maritime register.
It would be the biggest yacht with veil deprived of the world and would have cost the 360 million £ sum (417 millions €). Its ultra modern design breaks with the current codes in the world of superyachts, in particular in sail. This „sailboat“ distinguishes itself by its very voluminous and high hull which confers him rather a look of motoryacht. Without its three masts in carbon, it would be moreover difficult to identify as sailboat.
We re-know well the touch of the French designer Philippe Stark, who had already designed the power-driven superyacht A, also conceived for the Russian billionaire.
With an internal volume of 12 600 raw barrels and a surface of 8 decks, the main characteristics of A are its room of submarine observation, its diesel-electric hybrid propulsion system or still its systems of ultra modern navigation. We shall also note its glass in the test of bombs or still its 40 cameras of safety.
The construction was made in the greatest secrecy, even if we know that the Dutch studio Dykstra Naval Architects designed the rigging and the skittle or still that Magma Structures, in the United Kingdom designed masts in carbon, which amount to 100 m over the waterline, that is a height superior to that from Big Ben to London.
Two diesel engines of 4 827 CV MTU will confer on him a maximal speed of 21 knots. His cruising speed will be 16 knots and should allow him to cover 5 320 nautical miles.
