«Dear San Fiurenzinchi,

It is my pleasure to address you at the dawn of a new year. Together, we approach 2022 with eagerness and energy after having spent far too many months in such a peculiar context.

Allow me to extend, on my own behalf and on behalf of the entire municipal team, my best wishes for health, happiness, and prosperity for this new year. A year that we hope will be full of dynamism and enthusiasm, despite the difficult period we have been through.

Daily life is certainly still affected by the pandemic. But, day after day, pre-Covid-19 life is returning. Slowly but surely.

During this festive period, we naturally offer our deepest thoughts to all those who have been or are victims of illness, as well as to the economic actors, artisans, shopkeepers, and numerous employees who have been impacted by this unprecedented crisis.

Despite the health measures that led to the cancellation of many events, some have been able to be organised and have contributed to the reputation of our region.

The triennial Saint-Flor festival was able to take place, albeit in a reduced format and constrained by the health situation. The celebrations nonetheless allowed this important highlight for Saint-Florent and for the social fabric of our community to be experienced.

The municipality and the marina also fully associated themselves with the Water Safety Day activities with the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation. The children from the school in Saint-Florent were thus able to be made aware of sea rescue techniques alongside the SNSM volunteers. This event also allowed them to become involved in environmental preservation and, in particular, our rich marine heritage, under the auspices of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

Taking into account these new ecological challenges, rooted in our time, remains one of the main focuses of the action carried out by your municipality.

In this field, as in so many others, it is important to acknowledge the commitment of our associations, municipal employees, and administrative personnel, who work tirelessly to maintain and amplify the momentum of our town.

Despite a climate that remains uncertain, all things considered, this new year opens with new prospects for Saint-Florent. Our town has just been selected, along with 1,600 other towns, to participate in the «Small Towns of Tomorrow» programme launched by the government until 2026. This is a tremendous opportunity to better realise our projects and improve living conditions in our area. We will seize it.

We all wish that this new year opens under a more favourable light and with more cheerful prospects.

It is now up to us to maintain this course and amplify this momentum to make Saint-Florent a true town of tomorrow.

Peace and good health to all!»

Claudy Olmeta,

Mayor of Saint-Florent
