Since 2013, the Saint-Florent marina has striven to make its structure a model in terms of ecology. The seaside resort of Nebbiu intends to remain at the forefront in this field.

Following the OFB's awareness campaign, the harbourmaster's office has unveiled an ambitious project in the pipeline: the installation of a organised anchoring area in the Gulf of Saint-Florent and mooring buoys for large vessels.

«This new system is under study and is due to be operational by 2022 at the latest, indicate the mayor, Claudy Olmeta. This project is part of a reasoned approach to managing our coastline. It will optimise the economic benefits of yachting by accommodating new vessels while minimising the environmental impact.»

This mooring area, with around a hundred places, will be equipped with lightweight facilities and implemented as part of a partnership with the marine park and the environment office. This project is also based on an eco-design approach. «The idea is to offer a series of services around this area, such as wastewater collection, David Donnini, port director. Other actions will be added, notably the installation of nurseries to repopulate aquatic wildlife and allow for scientific monitoring of the gulf's species.»
