Following the latest announcements by the President of the Republic and the publication of government decree No. 2020-724 of 14 June 2020, the provisions of the order of the maritime prefect of the Mediterranean No. 104/2020 of 2 June 2020 have not been renewed beyond 15 June at midnight.

Consequently:

  • Nautical events are permitted subject to compliance with the conditions defined by the state of health emergency;
  • Ships arriving from the Schengen Area are permitted to call at, anchor, or stop in French internal and territorial waters. Nevertheless, certains pays de la zone Schengen peuvent encore interdire l'accès de navires de plaisance dans leurs eaux ;
  • Water-based activities are permitted within the remit of the Maritime Prefect of the Mediterranean.

In addition to the following measures[1] participate in the prudence and vigilance of all users:

  • Any pleasure craft arriving from abroad that intends to call at, anchor, or stop within French inland or territorial waters must declare its health status to the Regional Operational Centre for Surveillance and Rescue of the Mediterranean (CROSS-Med);
  • Likewise, any vessel, regardless of its flag, must report any suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 on board to CROSS-Med. More generally, at sea, CROSS and the signal stations are the points of contact for vessels in any abnormal situation.

After several weeks of inactivity for crews and boaters, and therefore a period without routine checks and maintenance of equipment, the maritime prefecture recommends that before any outing at sea, you proceed to :

  • checking their fitness.
  • the check of the general condition of the vessel (engine, sails, anchor, etc.); ;
  • compliance and the condition of obligatory safety equipment ;
  • manoeuvrability control ;
  • checking the reception conditions at the destination port.

Finally, the maritime prefecture reminds us that it is essential to have a communication device with a charged battery to contact the CROSS Med if necessary (on 196 from any telephone or channel 16 via VHF).
