Alien Corse Network

CPIE Bastia’s hosts were this afternoon on the beach of the Roya and on the Port de Plaisance of Saint-Florent to make boaters aware of marine invasive species.

The Alien Corse awareness campaign aims to make beach users and boaters aware of marine invasive species and how to report them. It is supported by Office de l’Environnement de la Corse.

ℹ️ ? The main species present in Corsica are:

  • Sea urchin flat crab that feeds on the same resources as sea urchins and prevents their development,
  • caulerpa cylindracea or sea grapes because this algae resembles grape grains and colonizes almost all types of substrates. To avoid its spread, do not especially reject it to the sea if you come up with your anchor ⚓️  ! It must be stored and discarded in the garbage when you return to shore.

You can find the list of other invasive species on the Alien Corse network site: http://www.ffessm-corse.com/reseau-alien-corse or on their Facebook page Alien Corse Network

Do not hesitate to inform them of these species if you see them at this email address: alien-corse@oec.fr or via the Facebook page of Réseau Alien Corse.?
